EV Charging Facility

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has taken a proactive step toward a greener future with the development of a new Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Park at its The Quays head office. This forward-thinking initiative aligns with the Council’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, carbon reduction, and the promotion of low-emission transport across the region.

The project involved the construction of a dedicated EV charging facility designed to support both fleet and staff vehicles, with the potential for public access in the future. Key elements of the scheme include:

  • Installation of multiple fast and rapid EV charging units

  • Groundworks and electrical infrastructure upgrades to support high-capacity charging demand

  • Bay markings and signage to clearly define EV-only parking spaces

  • Construction of Photovoltaic (PV) solar canopies to provide renewable energy generation and shelter for vehicles

  • Integration with renewable energy sources and smart metering where possible

  • Enhanced accessibility and ease of use for all users

The EV Charging Park at The Quays represents a significant step in modernising the Council’s transport infrastructure and supporting the transition to cleaner mobility solutions. It also demonstrates Neath Port Talbot’s leadership in embracing innovative, climate-conscious infrastructure that benefits both its workforce and the wider community.
