EV Charging Facility
Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has taken a proactive step toward a greener future with the development of a new Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Park at its The Quays head office. This forward-thinking initiative aligns with the Council’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, carbon reduction, and the promotion of low-emission transport across the region.
The project involved the construction of a dedicated EV charging facility designed to support both fleet and staff vehicles, with the potential for public access in the future. Key elements of the scheme include:
Installation of multiple fast and rapid EV charging units
Groundworks and electrical infrastructure upgrades to support high-capacity charging demand
Bay markings and signage to clearly define EV-only parking spaces
Construction of Photovoltaic (PV) solar canopies to provide renewable energy generation and shelter for vehicles
Integration with renewable energy sources and smart metering where possible
Enhanced accessibility and ease of use for all users
The EV Charging Park at The Quays represents a significant step in modernising the Council’s transport infrastructure and supporting the transition to cleaner mobility solutions. It also demonstrates Neath Port Talbot’s leadership in embracing innovative, climate-conscious infrastructure that benefits both its workforce and the wider community.
