We collect Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions data (tCO₂e) across all business operations to establish our annual carbon footprint and support reduction strategies.

Carbon Emissions Reduction

We strive to reduce and minimise carbon emissions and we understand the importance of thinking on a ‘Whole Life Cycle’ perspective when it comes to our buildings.

Our commitment to becoming a more sustainable business and achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050 or sooner has been approved by our Board of Directors and has been fully adopted by all our staff.

To enforce our commitment to Net Zero Carbon, we have set ambitious, but achievable, goals approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.

  • Obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification – we are currently working towards obtaining our PAS 2080:2023 Carbon Management in Infrastructure and the Built Environment certification.

  • Eliminate, reduce, re-use, and recycle waste – we prioritise the waste hierarchy.

  • Energy efficiency – reducing consumption and improving our use of energy.

  • Retrofit of our new head office – supports our ‘retrofit first’ approach and has reduced staff commuting. The new office is equipped with EV charging points for our electric fleet.

  • Flexible working arrangements for staff.

  • Green travel schemes – incentivising staff to choose lower-emission vehicles, greener alternatives to transport (e.g. Cycle to Work schemes), and more efficient commuting options.

  • Sustainable procurement practices using innovative ideas and materials.

  • Prioritising biodiversity enhancement across all our projects.

  • We produce an annual carbon emissions footprint and reduction plan to track progress toward net zero, measuring against targets and KPIs.

Designed in line with the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge, each building will benefit from significantly reduced running costs, using no more than 55 kWh/m² of energy per year. All M&E systems are metered and monitored via a cloud-based application, allowing operational energy usage to be accessed by Carmarthenshire County Council, end-users, Andrew Scott Ltd, and the design team. The units are currently in the process of being let to tenants, after which we will begin collating operational energy data to support building performance reviews in collaboration with Carmarthenshire County Council.

Awarded as an NEC3 Option A Design and Build contract via the South West Wales Regional Contractors Framework, we were appointed by Carmarthenshire County Council to deliver a new low-carbon office and industrial development comprising three buildings. All buildings were designed and delivered to:
