BREEAM ‘Excellent’ primary school and site upgrade

This project involved the construction of a new 3,000m² single-storey English-medium primary school, designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, alongside the refurbishment of an existing school to deliver Welsh-medium education supporting bilingual learning and long-term community growth.

The newly constructed school includes modern teaching and learning environments for up to 210 pupils aged 3 to 11, with purpose-built classrooms, specialist teaching areas, and high-quality indoor and outdoor play spaces. Associated external works were delivered as part of the project to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive educational setting.

Following the completion of the new school, the existing primary school building was refurbished to accommodate Welsh-medium provision, enhancing the region's bilingual education capacity.

As part of the wider site development:

  • The existing infants school was demolished, with the site repurposed to create a grassed sports pitch for physical education and recreation.

  • Ancillary works included installation of external services, a rainwater harvesting system, site-wide drainage infrastructure, internal access roads, car parking, fencing, and soft landscaping to complement the new buildings and improve the overall learning environment.

This carefully phased project delivers two high-quality learning environments one new, one repurposed underpinned by sustainable design, modern facilities, and a commitment to accessible education for all.
