Swansea Council moved swiftly to mitigate the effects of Buckingham Group’s insolvency September 2023, by appointing a company to assess and survey structural works, particularly on the north-side multi-storey car park adjacent to Oystermouth Road. In mid‑2024, the Council appointed Andrew Scott Ltd via the SWWRCF, to take over and complete the car park and retail/commercial elements of Copr Bay.

Description of the Completion Works:

• Weather‑proofing of all car deck levels to ensure the structure is sealed and resilient to the elements

• Repainting and fire‑protection works, including removal (“blasting off”) of defective paint from steel surfaces, followed by reapplication with compliant coatings

• Finishing the external appearance,  including cladding, aesthetic façade treatments, signage and completion of the overall external envelope

• Solution and installation of an external glass lift to access the arena concourse level

• Full mechanical and electrical (M&E) fit-out package, comprising installation, lighting, power, fire alarm, security, and building management systems

• Construction of internal blockwork walls, including supply and installation of all materials, structural ties, damp-proof courses, and fire-stopping measures as required

• Supply, installation, and commissioning of lift systems, including associated builder’s work, shaft preparation, mechanical and electrical integration, safety systems

• Full internal finishes package, encompassing plastering, drylining, , decorative finishes, floor finishes, internal doors and ironmongery, joinery elements, and any acoustic or aesthetic treatments required to complete interior spaces to the specified quality standard

Carrying out remaining snagging and fit‑out works across any unfinished elements of the broader Copr Bay development, including at ground‑floor retail or commercial units.
