The 210,000sqft development represents a multi-million-pound investment by international high-tech manufacturing and research & development company, KLA U.K.
The new building, for up to 750 staff, has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, reflecting KLA’s commitment to its environmental goals, and includes offices, cleanrooms, storage and support facilities.
Inside of the building façade are three floors of high-quality working environments, providing staff with modern workspaces, flexible breakout areas and a staff restaurant. The manufacturing hall contains sub-fab and clean rooms to the west, moving into stores and logistics area at the east. This is all clad within a simple portal frame structure. These spaces are then cloaked by glazed, curtain walled offices which has given the high end ‘headquarters’ aesthetic desired whilst also ensuring great connection between the offices and manufacturing hall. Full height glazing contributes to the engaging design and complement the copper framed main entrance.
With staff wellbeing a priority, the new building includes a gymnasium and a footpath to support employee fitness and health.
There is ample secure cycle storage and shower facilities for those who take part in the company's Cycle Scheme or just cycle to work to keep fit and do their part for the environment. 47no. EV charging points were installed to accommodate the use of more sustainable vehicle choices.
Andrew Scott Ltd has recently completed its second project for Trebor Developments, our Newport development comprising c.£45m of advanced manufacturing and office space with significant site preparation, new external areas and off-site highway works.
From the outset, the Andrew Scott team have been first class, with excellent collaborative working practices, programming, problem solving, and clear governance and communication.
A series of access dates were fixed at commencement and all were achieved, successfully navigating challenges of weather, statutory undertaker works and occupier’s changes.
Standards of health and safety, welfare and ESG deliverables have all been excellent. The quality of the finished building has surpassed our expectations.
