Planner
Job Description:
The Position will be initially based on site in Port Talbot, office-based support as required on tenders with future visit to sites to update programmes reporting to Contract Manager’s and Directors.
Andrew Scott Ltd is seeking an experienced P6 Reporting Planner to support planning, reporting and change-control requirements on major heavy industrial works. The role requires a strong Primavera P6 planner who can maintain accurate progress data, produce clear daily and weekly reporting, and support the commercial team with robust programme evidence for variations, delay events, disruption assessments and Extension of Time submissions.
The Planner will have operational input into the creation of the construction programme during the key stages of the project and will work closely with the commercial team to develop procurement schedule. Once the project goes live you will take ownership of the construction programme, including regular tracking of progress of performance onsite vs planned. Recording progress in the As Built Programme, the Planner will also conduct delay analysis and substantiation or act as defence towards any claims.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Management & Reporting
Maintain, update and progress the project programme in Primavera P6.
Capture daily site progress, productivity, constraints, access issues, design changes and key events.
Produce daily and weekly programme updates, progress dashboards, lookahead plans and variance reports.
Monitor critical path movement, float changes, key milestones and productivity trends.
Support short-term planning, including two-week and six-week lookahead programmes.
Change, Delay & Commercial Support
Assess the programme impact of drawing revisions, RFIs, design changes, site instructions, access restrictions and disruption events.
Support Time Impact Analysis, delay narratives and programme substantiation for variations and EOT submissions.
Link programme events to commercial change records, variation trackers and supporting evidence.
Work with Quantity Surveyors and commercial managers to align time impacts with cost and quantum assessments.
Maintain clear audit trails between programme updates, site records, correspondence, RFIs, drawing revisions and commercial notices.
Interface & Coordination
Liaise with Andrew Scott Ltd site teams, external representatives, and subcontractors.
Attend planning, progress, commercial and coordination meetings as required.
Provide clear programme narratives for project leadership and client-facing reporting.
Support the preparation of mitigation, recovery and acceleration plans where required.
Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience using Primavera P6 on live construction or infrastructure projects.
Experience on major civil engineering, industrial, steelworks, energy, process plant or heavy infrastructure projects.
Good understanding of NEC or similar UK construction contracts, particularly early warnings, compensation events, change control and EOT processes.
Experience supporting delay analysis, progress substantiation, change management or claims preparation.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, sequencing logic, workfaces, constraints and site progress data.
Excellent reporting, analytical and communication skills.
Comfortable working under daily reporting deadlines in a live site environment.
Desirable Experience
Experience working on energy, process plant or similarly controlled industrial sites.
Familiarity with resource-loaded programmes and productivity analysis.
Knowledge of forensic planning methods including impacted-as-planned, Time Impact Analysis and windows analysis.
CSCS card and/or CCNSG Safety Passport.
Experience using Excel, Power BI, Asta Powerproject, Synchro, Bluebeam or CDE platforms.
