New Bi-lingual Primary School Development

This new-build primary school project is designed to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating, reflecting high standards in environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and modern educational design.

The development will comprise two separate one-form entry school buildings:

  • One English-medium school, replacing the current Betws Primary School

  • One Welsh-medium school, replacing Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Cwm Garw

Together, the new facilities will provide contemporary, inclusive learning environments for pupils from both language streams, supporting the local authority’s vision for bilingual education in the region.

Each school building will include:

  • Modern classrooms

  • Reception and nursery classes

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) rooms

  • Cloakrooms and WCs

  • Community rooms (shared between both schools)

  • Multi-purpose hall and kitchen

  • Headteacher and administration offices

  • Meeting rooms and staff facilities

  • Dedicated storage, showers, and changing rooms

Both buildings will also benefit from their own designated outdoor teaching spaces, encouraging active learning, play, and wellbeing outside the classroom.

This dual-stream school campus represents a significant investment in the future of bilingual education, designed to meet the evolving needs of pupils, staff, and the wider community in a sustainable and forward-looking environment

It was very pleasing to see how experiences gained from the previous Phase were used to improve on programme and performance on this 2nd Phase of work. The entire Team were excellent from start to finish. There was a definite ethos of deal with problems immediately and worry about the ‘whys’ and ‘whos’ for the problem later…this is absolutely the right approach. I would welcome any opportunity to work with Andrew Scott in the future.
